Man arrested for drug consumption, possession, transport in Uppinangady

Puttur, Oct 2: A man has been arrested by Uppinangady police at Bedrodi in Bajattur village on charges of consuming narcotics and transporting them for sale.

The arrested has been identified as Razak (43), a resident of Matha Hirthadka, Uppinangady. On September 30, while Uppinangady police sub-inspector Avinash H and his team were on rounds, they signalled a car coming from Nelyadi towards Uppinangady to stop. However, the driver, Razak, drove a little further, halted the vehicle, and attempted to flee on foot.

Police apprehended him and during questioning, he admitted to consuming MDMA and transporting it. Upon searching the car, police recovered 12.35 grams of MDMA. Additionally, two mobile phones worth Rs 10,000 each and a car valued at around Rs 3 lac used for the crime were seized.

A case has been registered at Uppinangady police station.
