Mangalore: Aboobakkar Rubbishes Allegations of Funds Misuse, Presents Facts and Figures

Mangalore, Feb 11: Brushing aside the allegations of misusing the Government money, as published in a Kannada daily on February 7, N B Aboobakkar, chairman of Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation Ltd furnished documents to the media persons at a press conference at Press Club here on Saturday February 11.
He said that as alleged by one Amir Khan, a JD(S) worker, he has not misused the Government fund. He clarified he has toured all the districts in the state seven times and spoke to people belonging to minority communities and made them aware of various projects of the state Government and the KMDCL meant for their benefits. By visiting flood prone places in the state, he learnt the situation of minority people there and arranged Rs 3.20 cr loan and compensation for as many as 3090 eligible beneficiaries under Micro loan scheme of KMDCL.
The head office of KMDCL was renovated at the cost of Rs 37.08 lac. With an intension of having a own building for the KMDCL Rs 5 cr has been kept aside for a building to be constructed on 6,500 square feet land in Sanjaynagara with the help of BDA. Under ‘one time settlement scheme’ out of loan total disbursed, more than Rs 30 lac has been recovered, subsidy of Rs 24.32 lac on interest is given by the government, Rs 2.37 cr interest amount has been waived for 830 loan beneficiaries, he said.
Ruling out the report published in a daily which stated that N B Aboobakkar has been unnecessarily traveling to Delhi, he defended that in all, he traveled five times to Delhi and as a result of effective meetings held with the president and managing director of national minority development and finance corporation, Rs 4.50 cr in the year 2008-09, Rs 3.50 cr in 2009-10, Rs 10 cr in 2011-12 was released for KMDCL. During his stint as the chairman, repayment of loan of Rs 19.66 cr was made, also Rs 8.15 cr equity share was issued and total shares of Rs 27.81 cr was issued.
During his stint, a progress review meeting is held every two months to discuss the effective implementation of the project initiated by KMDCL for the benefit of minority people in the state, he explained.
Terming the allegation of Amir Khan as baseless and an attempt to damage his esteem, he said that after he was selected to the post of chairman of KMDCL, he was officially obtaining facilities like house rent, car, TA, DA and other facilities by the Government. He said Amir Khan does brokerage business and pokes his nose in other offices of the Government too. He had earlier he took loan for buying an auto rickshaw, and did not repay the amount. Also Rs 33,250 loan given on his wife’s name for running a baby sitting is also not repaid to the KMDCL, he backfired.
N B Aboobakkar also informed that he has written a letter to the CM stating that action should be taken against Amir Khan under Goonda act as he is allegedly involved in criminal activities and his name is in rowdy sheet. N B Aboobakkar also said that the KMDCL which was in 56th place earlier now stands at the top place after good performance of executing the good projects.
It could be recalled that a report published in a Kannada daily dated February 7, it was alleged that N B Aboobakkar traveled between Mangalore-Bangalore for 76 times through airway and spent more than Rs 1,000 for one time food at Chicken in restaurant in Pandara Road during his tour to New Delhi.
It was also alleged in the report that he spent Rs 1112749 in the year 2009-10, Rs 1265809 in 2010-11, Rs 557147 in time gap of 2011 to October 2012, and Rs 147280 in 2009-10 for his personal assistant, Rs 142600 in 2010-11, Rs 80800 in 2011-12 (till October) for driver Rs 78000 in 2009-10, Rs 78000 in 2010-11 and Rs 63000 in 2011-12 (tll October). Amir Khan had also demanded for CID enquiry into the figures mentioned.
