Kannauj, Oct 3: Former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has stirred controversy with his comments on education while addressing a Vijaya Dashami event in Chhibramau, Kannauj district, on October 2.
“There’s no need for education, because everything in jobs has been outsourced,” ABP News quoted Singh as saying during the customary weapon worship programme.

Singh, who has often courted controversy, also flaunted his wealth at the event, declaring that he did not come in a rented helicopter but in “one I bought myself.” He further advised people to surround themselves with successful individuals in order to achieve success.
The remarks have reignited criticism against the veteran politician, who has previously faced serious allegations. Between 2016 and 2019, Singh, the former Wrestling Federation of India chief, was accused of sexual harassment by wrestlers including Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat, leading to nationwide protests.
A six-time MP from eastern Uttar Pradesh, Singh began his political journey in the 1980s as a student activist in Ayodhya. He rose to prominence during the Ram Mandir agitation and was elected in 1991 as BJP’s first MP from Gonda. While five of his terms were with the BJP and one with the Samajwadi Party, in 2024, the BJP fielded his son for the seat he had long held.
