Trump-Led Arab coalition praised for ending Gaza conflict, says US secretary of State Rubio

Washington, Oct 6: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sunday praised the coalition of Arab nations brought together by President Donald Trump, crediting it for helping end the Gaza conflict and secure progress in hostage negotiations.

Rubio said the alliance was not a political grouping but a united front against terrorism. In a post on X, he wrote, “We’re not dealing with a political movement, we’re dealing with killers, savages, and terrorists. But what gives us hope is the coalition US President Donald Trump built that is pushing in the same direction with us to get the hostages released and the conflict resolved.”

Earlier, President Trump said that talks between Hamas and several countries worldwide, including Arab and Muslim nations, have been “very successful and proceeding rapidly.” In a statement on Truth Social, he said, “There have been very positive discussions with Hamas and countries from all over the world this weekend to release the hostages, end the war in Gaza, and more importantly, finally achieve long-sought peace in the Middle East.”

Trump announced that technical teams will meet in Egypt on Monday to finalize the details of the agreement. “The first phase should be completed this week, and I am asking everyone to move fast. Time is of the essence, or massive bloodshed will follow—something that nobody wants to see,” he warned.

Meanwhile, Israel’s coordinator for hostage affairs reaffirmed the country’s commitment to negotiating “with full determination” to ensure the release of all hostages, CNN reported.

President Trump also spoke at a ceremony marking the US Navy’s 250th anniversary, where he referred to his ongoing efforts to mediate peace in the Middle East. “We’re working on solving global conflicts, including one that’s taken 3,000 years. And we’re pretty close, but I don’t want to talk about it until it’s done,” Trump said.

Addressing the gathered sailors and military officials, he added, “We don’t want to send you into battle unless it’s necessary. We’re putting out a lot of fires.”
