Lucknow, Oct 12: In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped by five unidentified men in a mango orchard under Banthara police station limits in Lucknow on Saturday, police said.
According to Vikash Kumar Pandey, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Krishnanagar), the Class 11 student had left home around noon to visit a relative and was travelling on a motorcycle with an acquaintance.

The two reportedly stopped near a petrol pump to talk when five men approached them. “They assaulted her acquaintance, who managed to escape, and then raped the girl one after another,” Pandey said. The assailants also warned the survivor not to tell anyone about the crime before fleeing the spot.
The girl later informed a male relative, who immediately alerted the police. Confirming the incident, Banthara Station House Officer Rana Rajesh Kumar told PTI that the survivor’s medical examination was underway.
“We have constituted several teams to trace and arrest the accused. Prima facie, it appears that they are locals from nearby villages,” the SHO said.
A case has been registered, and police have launched a hunt to nab the culprits.
