Udupi, Oct 13: The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) achieved a major milestone by improving its position in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026.

According to a press release issued by the institution, MAHE, which was placed in the 801–1000 band in 2025, has now risen to the 601–800 band in the latest rankings.

This remarkable progress reflects MAHE’s strong research ecosystem, enhanced teaching environment, and growing global reputation. The THE World University Rankings 2026, released on October 9, evaluated 2,191 institutions from 115 countries and regions.

The rankings were based on 18 carefully calibrated indicators across five key areas — teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook, and industry engagement. MAHE demonstrated excellence across all these parameters, contributing to its significant upward move in the global ranking list.

MAHE vice-chancellor Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh lauded the university’s achievement, attributing it to the institution’s robust academic performance and strong foundation in research. He noted that MAHE’s ranking has shown consistent improvement over the years, underscoring the university’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and innovation.
