Bahrain Billawas to host ‘Guruvandana’ cultural celebration on Oct 17

Bahrain, Oct 14: The Bahrain Billawas, a united association of non-resident Billawas in Bahrain, is set to organize a grand cultural event titled ‘Guruvandana’ on Friday, October 17, at the Kannada Bhavan Cultural Auditorium.

The highlight of the event will be the presence of His Holiness Mahamandaleshwar 1008 Sri Swami Sadguru Brahmananda Saraswati Maharaj, Peetadhipathi of Jagadguru Peetha, Kanyadi Sri Ramakshetra Mahasansthana, who will arrive in Bahrain specially for the occasion. As part of the Guruvandana celebration, Swamiji will deliver a blessing address, and the programme will feature a Bhajan Mahotsav by various bhajan groups, Kunit Bhajane, and several other cultural performances.

The event will also see the presence of Jayashankar Vishwanathan, CEO of Unico Group of Institutions, as the chief guest. Fr Saji Thomas, a Christian spiritual leader, will attend as the special guest, while Geetanjali Suvarna, president of the women’s wing of the National Billawa Mahamandala, will grace the event as the guest of honour.

The function will also be attended by Ajith Bangera, president of Kannada Sangha, office-bearers of various organizations from the island, and representatives from Billawa associations and communities of other Gulf countries, adding to the festive spirit of the occasion.

The Guruvandana ceremony will commence at 4:00 pm, with Swamiji being welcomed in a traditional Poorna Kumbha procession, followed by a series of cultural programmes. The event will conclude with a special feast (Maha Prasada Bhojana) arranged for all attendees.

The programme is open to all members of the Kannada and Tulu communities in Bahrain, and Bahrain Billawas president Prakash Anchan has invited everyone to participate in large numbers.
