Kundapur: Scooter rider succumbs to injuries after being run over by crane on NH-66

Kundapur, Oct 14: In a tragic road mishap, 23-year-old Abhishek Poojary, a resident of Kambalagaddebettu, Manur, who had sustained grievous injuries after being run over by a crane on National Highway 66 at Thekkatte, passed away on October 13 while undergoing treatment.

The unfortunate incident took place on October 11 when Abhishek was travelling on his scooter from his home in Manur towards Kundapur for work. Reportedly, a Pulsar bike suddenly came in front of his vehicle, causing him to lose balance and fall onto the road. Before he could get up, a speeding crane coming from behind ran over him, leaving him critically injured.

He was immediately rushed to Manipal Hospital, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. Despite the best medical efforts, Abhishek succumbed to his injuries two days later.

Abhishek, the second among three children of Gopal Poojary and Vanaja from Kambalagaddebettu, was employed at Anshu Medicals in Koteshwar. Known for his simplicity and kind nature, he was well-liked in his community and considered a pillar of support for his family.

He is survived by his parents, brother, and sister.
