Udupi, Oct 16: A team of students from Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, secured the first place at "Monaithon 2025" – a two-day Medical AI Hackathon held on September 27–28, at JNNCE, Shivamogga.
The event was organised by the Department of AIML and the ACM Student Council, JNNCE, with the theme of developing Medical AI solutions using the MONAI framework.

Team Arise members — Tejas Nayak, Shivam, Poornananda, and Swasthik Yesh — presented their project “Retmanas”, which uses deep learning for retinal vessel and brain tumour segmentation. The solution was developed using UNet and VNet architectures and deployed as an interactive web application using Streamlit and Fast API.
The team was mentored by Hitesh Mendon and Surajit Deb Burma. Their project demonstrated a complete AI workflow with strong potential in medical imaging and clinical applications.
