Mangaluru, Oct 17: Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Deralakatte, successfully hosted the RGUHS Mangalore Zone Cricket Tournament 2025-26 on October 17 and 21. The two-day event brought together ten teams from medical institutions across the RGUHS Mangalore zone, showcasing sporting talent, teamwork, and competitive spirit.
The inaugural programme on October 17 commenced with a melodious invocation by Shreya and her team, setting a vibrant tone for the tournament.
The event was formally inaugurated by Director Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo at the Father Muller Stadium, while Fr Donald Nilesh Crasta, administrator of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, extended a warm welcome to the chief guest and attendees.

















Chief guest Mohammad Ibrahim, head coach of the Indian National Blind Cricket Team, expressed his pleasure at officiating matches at the Father Muller Ground. He lauded the excellent infrastructure and ambience, and emphasised that intent and sacrifice, encompassing consistency, dedication, and punctuality, are essential for achieving success. He wished all participating teams the very best for the tournament.
In his presidential address, Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo inspired students and players by quoting, “Work while you work, play while you play — this is the way to be cheerful and gay.” He elaborated on the significance of discipline, time management, and mindfulness, highlighting that true success and happiness come from giving complete attention and dedication to every endeavour.
Nikhil Samuel, sports secretary of the student council, proposed the vote of thanks on behalf of the institution. The inaugural function concluded with the rendition of the Institution Anthem.
The event saw the presence of Dr Jeeno Jose, sports coordinator; vice principal Dr Vilma Meera D’Souza; medical superintendent Dr Girish Navada; Fr Nelson Dheeraj Pais, administrator; Fr Rohan Dais; Dr Satish S, principal FMCOPS; Chennakeshava MG, physical education instructor FMHMC; physical education directors of other colleges; faculty members; student council members; and students.
The dignitaries were formally escorted to the stadium to play the inaugural game and declare the tournament open. The inaugural ceremony was compered by Kristal Fernandes and Sophiya, adding to the grandeur of the event.
With meticulous logistical and manpower support, FMHMC successfully hosted this mega sporting event, fostering camaraderie, sportsmanship, and a spirit of healthy competition among medical students in the Mangalore zone.
