Udupi, Oct 18: The spirit of Deepavali illuminated the campus of St Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady, as students and staff celebrated the festival of lights with great enthusiasm and cultural vibrance on October 17. The celebration held in the school auditorium, was marked by joy, unity, and a shared message of light triumphing over darkness.

The programme was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp, symbolising the victory of light over ignorance. In his address, Fr Charles Menezes, correspondent, emphasised the deeper meaning of Deepavali, encouraging students to embody compassion, kindness, and truth in their daily lives. He reminded everyone that the festival is not just about external lights but also about illuminating the goodness within.

A thought-provoking drama titled ‘Thamasoma Jyothirgamaya’ presented by the students captivated the audience. The performance beautifully portrayed the theme of dispelling the darkness of ignorance and negativity from human hearts, leaving an inspiring message for all.
