Two Tonnes of Fake Cosmetics Seized in UAE in 2011

Abu Dhabi, Feb 14 (IANS/WAM): Inspection of men's barber shops, women's beauty parlours and cosmetics outlets in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2011 led to the confiscation of two tonnes of fake cosmetics and herbal medicines.

The cosmetics were either counterfeit or non-compliant with health standards.

Some commodities had labels written in foreign languages without being translated into Arabic or English, officials said.

Officials also confiscated a large number of medical equipment that should be used in licensed medical clinics only by qualified people.
