Media Release

Mangaluru, Oct 23: Carmel School, Mangaluru, Kindergarten section celebrated Grandparents’ Day with warmth and enthusiasm on Friday, October 17. The event was a heartwarming tribute to the love, wisdom, and guidance that grandparents offer their families.

The day began with a warm welcome, as grandparents were greeted with handmade badges lovingly crafted by our KG teachers. The program commenced with a prayer service conducted by the UKG students, followed by a vibrant welcome dance that set the tone for the celebration.

On the dais were esteemed principal, vice principal, and chief guest Dr Sr Marie Prem, who is also the administrator of Carmel School. Their presence added grace and inspiration to the occasion.

A special highlight of the day was a multilingual welcome speech delivered by the school's UKG tiny tots in English, Kannada, Tulu, and Byari – showcasing the rich linguistic heritage of the region and the confidence of young learners.

Adding a memorable touch to the celebration, one lucky grandparent was selected and honoured with a floral tiara, sash, and a special gift as a token of love and respect from the Carmel family.

Dr Sr Marie Prem addressed the gathering with an insightful and heartfelt talk, reflecting on the ageing process and how grandparents can navigate physical changes while staying connected with the younger generation. Her words resonated deeply with all present.

The programme also featured entertaining dances and action songs performed by the UKG students. To engage the grandparents, a variety of spot games and lucky draw games were conducted, creating a joyful and interactive atmosphere.

The role of master of ceremony (MC) was beautifully carried out by the KG children themselves, showcasing their confidence and communication skills.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Tr Sujatha, followed by a lively Baila dance, which brought everyone to their feet, dancing and celebrating together.

As a gesture of appreciation, gifts and refreshments were distributed to all grandparents. The celebration left behind cherished memories and smiles, reminding everyone of the invaluable bond between grandparents and grandchildren.
