Beltangady: Illegal beef transport in auto-rickshaw busted; case registered

Beltangady, Oct 24: The Beltangady police have seized an auto-rickshaw and 85 kg of beef that was being illegally transported, following a raid conducted based on credible information.

Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted an auto-rickshaw arriving from Killuru Road at the Layila Junction on Thursday October 23. Upon noticing the police, the driver, identified as Hakeem (27) from Layila, fled the scene.

Upon inspection, police discovered 85 kg of beef inside the vehicle. The seized auto-rickshaw, valued at approximately Rs 2.5 lac, along with the beef, has been taken into custody.

A case has been registered at the Beltangady police station under Section 12 of the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020.
