Dubai: 'Aami Nathlya Vellar' Konkani Play on Daiji Dubai 13th Anniversary

Dubai, Feb 15: Daiji Dubai, a forum for Konkani writers in the United Arab Emirates, will celebrate its 13th anniversary on April 13, 2012 at the Sheikh Rashid Auditorium of Indian High School, Dubai.

'Aami Nathlya Vellar', a Marathi play which was translated into Kannada and Tulu, and translated into Konkani by Richie Pereira Derebail (of 'Tho Mala Naka' fame) will be the prime attraction on this occasion. The 'muhurtam' for the play was held at Winny's Restaurant, Karama recently.










































The Muhurtam was initaited by sounding the clap by Franky D'Souza of Shezan, Frank Caterers.

In a formal ceremony, Joseph Mathias of Merit Freight, Mark Denis D'Souza of Fortuna Engineering, James Mendonca, president of Mangalore Konkans were present as guests along with Stan Agiera, former conviener of Daiji Dubai and Alwyn Pinto, convener of Daiji Rang Mandir.

Joseph Mathias released the copy of the play and wished good luck to the director, actors and everyone involved in staging the play. He said that he had always felt proud to be associated with Daiji Dubai organisation.

Stan Ageira narrated Daiji Dubai's mission in Konkani language, art and culture. "Like every year, Daiji Dubai will bring innovation in the field of entertainment in Dubai this time too," he said.

Dayan D'Souza, founder convener of Daiji Dubai, ace stage artiste and community leader will direct the play. Speaking on the occasion, he said, "'Aami Nathlya Vellar' is a hit play staged several hundred times in Marathi, Kannada and Tulu. The play is replete with emotions and comedy, and depicts a real story from a place near Mumbai. Originally written about four decades ago, the play has attracted remarkable reviews in Konkani wherever it has been played."

He introduced the artistes and requested support from Konkani speaking audience for the success of the show.

Rony Byndoor welcomed and compered the programme.

Invitees from various organisations, members of Daiji Dubai, DRM and actors were present.

    Good Move by Daiji. Aami Nathllya Vellar is a wonderful Play with a nice combination of Story and Moral. If actors blend well with the characters its going to be a memorable show.
