Udupi, Oct 27: A tragic accident near the Nittur KSRTC depot on National Highway 66 claimed the life of Sparsha (24), daughter of Shirva police station ASI Sudesh Shetty, and left another person injured on October 26.

The mishap occurred around 8.15 pm when a car driven recklessly by Rakesh, travelling from the Karavali side towards Santhekatte, reportedly rammed into the rear of a scooter ridden by Sharmila (49), who had her daughter Sparsha as a pillion rider.

The impact threw both women onto the road. Sharmila sustained injuries to her arms and other parts of the body, while Sparsha suffered severe head injuries. They were rushed to a private hospital for treatment, but Sparsha succumbed to her injuries on the morning of October 27.

Udupi traffic police have registered a case and are investigating.

Daughter of xxxx Did she stick this label on her vehicle? While driving Are we expected to treat a person depending on the connection? How many of our near , dear and loved ones have to die needless ly before we change. It is like we are children of a smaller lesser god, no value for our like. Rest in peace dear, may god grant the family the strength to bear the loss. May our elected politicians enforce traffic rules and regulations.

Very sad and tragic end of young life. May God grant eternal rest to the departed soul and give strength to the family to bear this irreparable loss. We see these incidents on our Roads on a daily basis but unfortunately no one bothers. Whom you blame.. it's the result of our stupid toothless laws and corrupt public administration. People are issued driving licences without basic competency tests and knowledge of traffic rules with added conditions of our roads.

Very painful to hear this sad news... May the Almighty God take care of Sparsha. We pray that God grant the family members all the strength to bear this immense loss and find comfort in His (God's) will.

Sad to hear that young woman died in this incident. The question is whether this young woman had her worn Helmet ?It is so essential to wear it either as rider at the back or main rider. Many men ride so recklessly when they see woman is riding. Now nothing helps.Hope insurance clears it.May be the person was drunk?Otherwise one cant hit the scooter so much on the side?May her soul rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathies to her family. So soon can a young life can end when others dont drive carefully.

Extremely tragic and unfortunate; may the departed soul rest in eternal peace; riding two wheelers is extremely dangerous in DK, so many innocent people lose their life and limb in tragic accidents; only some divine force can protect these vulnerable two wheeler drivers!!
