Bhatkal: Two Students Drown in Sea near Honnavar

Bhatkal, Feb 15: In a tragic incident which occurred at Apsarahonda, a tourist destination in Honnavar taluk of Uttara Kannada district on Monday February 13, two students of a college in Honnavar drowned.

The victims have been identified as Raghuveer Naik (17), and Sandeep Achary (17), both students of SDM College Honnavar. The body of Raghuveer was recovered later. Divers have been searching for the body of the other student. Another student, Subrahmanya Shankara Naik, who was also with the duo, and who was struggling to save himself, was rescued by some locals.

These three students had visited Apsarahonda, located within the limits of Manki police station, at around 4 pm on Monday for swimming. All the three were swept away due to strong waves. The locals, who jumped into action, could rescue only one of them.

A case in this connection was registered in Manki police station.
