Kasargod, Nov 4: A tragic road accident involving a scooter and a car claimed the life of a BJP worker at Peruvad on the national highway near Kumbla on Monday night.
The deceased has been identified as N Harish Kumar (37), a resident of Arikkady Pareshtan. Passengers traveling in the car sustained injuries and were admitted to a hospital in Kasargod.
The accident occurred around 11 pm when Harish Kumar’s scooter, which was heading from Kasargod towards Kumbla, collided with a car coming from the opposite direction. Due to the impact, the car lost control and overturned on the roadside. Harish Kumar, who sustained severe injuries, was rushed to the Kumbla hospital but could not be saved.

Local residents and bystanders rushed to the spot and assisted in shifting the injured to the hospital. Despite their efforts, Harish Kumar succumbed to his injuries.
The mishap caused major traffic disruption on the highway for over two hours as oil leaked from the car’s tank, creating hazardous conditions. The fire and rescue department personnel arrived at the scene and worked to clear the road and restore smooth traffic movement.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders and party workers staged a protest in front of the Kumbla District Cooperative Hospital, alleging that Harish Kumar’s death occurred due to delay and negligence in providing timely medical treatment.
