ICYM Central Council Mangalore diocese holds CareerXpo 2025

Mangaluru, Nov 4: The ICYM Central Council Mangalore diocese, in association with St Joseph Engineering College, Mangalore and the Karnataka Regional Youth Commission (KRYC), organized the CareerXpo 2025 on November 1 and 2 at St Joseph Engineering College, Mangaluru.

More than 2,000 youth from different parts of Karnataka and Kerala participated in this two-day event. Over 100 companies took part in the CareerXpo, providing excellent employment opportunities for young job seekers.

The event was inaugurated on November 1st. The inaugural ceremony of CareerXpo 2025 was graced by the presence of several distinguished guests, Fr Ashwin Cardoza, ICYM Mangalore diocese director and Karnataka Regional Youth Commission secretary, Dr Rio D’Souza, principal of St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Fr Kenneth R Crasta, assistant director, SJEC, Sr Molly, lady animator, KRYC, Vileena Gonsalves, coordinator, KRYC, Ruben, student coordinator, SJEC, Vijoy Ashwin Cardoza president of ICYM Mangalore diocese.

Dr Rio D’Souza, principal of St Joseph Engineering College, delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the need for young people to empower one another: "It is essential for the youth to become creators of opportunities for other youth. Programmes like this help young people who are seeking employment to gain confidence, develop their skills, and strengthen their talents"

The inaugural ceremony was compered by Floyd Pinto, joint secretary of ICYM Mangalore diocese.

The two-day event was a success and received strong support from the SJEC administration. Students interacted with company representatives, attended interviews, and explored career opportunities. The interviews held by different companies gave students new hope for their future careers.

Ivan D’Souza, member of the Karnataka Legislative Council and Michael D’Souza, entrepreneur visited CareerXpo 2025 and appreciated the efforts of the organizers. They acknowledged the event’s role in helping young people from Karnataka and Kerala find employment opportunities.

The event concluded on November 2nd with a valedictory programme appreciating the overwhelming response from participants and companies. The ceremony was graced by Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangalore diocese, Fr Wilfred Rodrigues, director, SJEC; Sr Molly, lady animator, KRYC; Fr Ashwin Cardoza, Karnataka Regional youth commission secretary and ICYM Mangalore diocese director; Vijoy Ashwin Cardoza, president, ICYM Mangalore diocese; Maria D’Silva, secretary, ICYM Mangalore diocese; Jaison Crasta, coordinator, youth commission; Jessica Santhmayor, KRYC secretary, Viola Lewis, MIJARC Karnataka Coordinator; and Ruben Saldanha, student coordinator, SJEC.

During the valedictory programme, bishop of Mangalore diocese, Dr Peter Paul Saldanha addressed the gathering, encouraging the youth to move forward as builders of the nation. He noted that the job fair, which brought together more than 2,000 job seekers and around 100 companies under one roof, was a commendable initiative.

Bishop Saldanha emphasized that employment is not merely a means of livelihood but also an opportunity to serve society. He urged the youth to use their skills and dedication to build a strong and prosperous nation.

Fr Ashwin Cardoza, secretary of the Karnataka Regional youth commission and director of ICYM Mangalore diocese, In his remarks, he extended heartfelt appreciation to the students and companies who actively participated and contributed to the success of the event.

He also expressed sincere gratitude to St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC) for their unwavering support and collaboration in making CareerXpo 2025 a meaningful and impactful platform for aspiring youth and employers alike.

The valedictory programme was compered by Winston Sequeira, past president of central council.

CareerXpo 2025 truly bridged aspirations with opportunities, leaving a lasting impact and reaffirming the commitment of ICYM and SJEC to youth empowerment.
