Goa MLA Michael Lobo urges hospitality sector to ensure tourist safety

Calangute, Nov 4: Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has stressed the importance of protecting tourists in Goa, urging club, restaurant, and guest house owners to prioritize visitor safety.

Lobo stated that Police Inspectors (PIs) have been instructed to engage with hospitality establishments and ensure staff are trained: under no circumstances should tourists be touched or harmed, regardless of their level of intoxication. “You cannot hit them. If there is any issue, immediately call the police helpline and let the authorities handle it,” he said.

Highlighting the broader implications, Lobo noted that any assault on tourists tarnishes Goa’s image nationally and internationally. “Tourists should be treated properly at all times. Harassment is unacceptable,” he added.

He further mentioned plans to meet Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to ensure that all police inspectors receive clear directives to safeguard tourists across the state.
