Puttur: Shop Damaged in Gas Cylinder Pipe Burst

Puttur, Feb 16: A shop in Bolwar here suffered extensive damage, after the pipe of a gas cylinder burst on Wednesday February 15 evening. It is learnt that the fire spread when deep fried eatables were being prepared in a section of the shop.

The accident occurred at Laxmi General Stores, located in a building belonging to Narayana Acharya in Bolwar Junction. The shop, dealing in cutlery and puja paraphernalia, belongs to a person named Rajesh Holla. In addition to various items stored in the shop, parts of the building also suffered minor damages, it is gathered.

Every evening, eatables were deep fried and sold in a section of the said shop. During this process on Wednesday evening, the pipe carrying LPG burst, and flames spread all over the building in no time. Cutlery and puja items were turned into ashes as a result, and estimated loss has been put at around Rs 50,000.

Fire extinguishers came on the spot later, and doused the flames. No one was injured in the incident.
