Vagator, Nov 11: In a shocking incident, two local youths were brutally assaulted by a group of unidentified men at Vagator late on Sunday, leaving both victims seriously injured. The attackers also vandalised the victims’ car before escaping from the scene.

According to police sources, the confrontation began after the assailants — believed to be outsiders — allegedly passed comments at the locals, which sparked a heated argument. The altercation quickly escalated into physical violence, during which the victims were severely beaten.

The injured youths were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their statements have been recorded, and they have identified the attackers as “non-locals” who fled immediately after the assault.

The Anjuna Police have registered a case against unknown accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and have initiated an investigation. Teams have been deployed to trace the suspects, and CCTV footage from the area is being examined to identify those involved.

Police officials said that a manhunt is underway and assured that the perpetrators will be brought to justice soon.
