Mangaluru: SDIT student Shreya Moodekallu excels in athletics with multiple gold medals

Mangaluru, Nov 12: Shreya M, a final-year electronics and communication engineering student at Shree Devi Institute of Technology (SDIT), Mangaluru, has brought pride to the institution through her outstanding achievements in athletics.

Hailing from Moodekallu House, Sullia, Dakshina Kannada, Shreya is the daughter of Mohana Naik, a daily wage worker, and Savithri M, a homemaker. Her journey from a rural background to state and national athletic meets is truly inspiring.

Shreya began her running journey in primary school and steadily advanced through district, state, and national levels. Her passion for running has earned her multiple laurels, including a gold medal with a new meet record at the VTU State-Level Intercollegiate Athletic Meet held at Shivamogga for the 5 km and 10 km races.

She also clinched the gold medal at the Niveus Mangalore Marathon (42 km) with an impressive timing of 3 hours and 22 minutes. Additionally, she secured medals at the Revel’s Cup, MIT Manipal, and the Karnataka State U23 Athletic Meet in Udupi, where she qualified for the National U23 Championship.

Shreya has proudly represented her college and Karnataka at prestigious platforms such as the All India Inter-University Athletic Championship in Odisha and the All India Cross Country Meet held at Alva’s College, Moodbidri.

Her dedication and achievements have been widely appreciated by the management and faculty of SDIT, who describe her as a role model for young athletes aspiring to balance academics and sports.
