Mangaluru: CNG tanker leakage near Suratkal Junction leads to temporary highway shutdown

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Surathkal, Nov 15: A brief scare prevailed near Suratkal Junction on Friday night after a CNG tanker developed a leakage close to the Harsha showroom, causing concern among local residents.

The tanker, which had refilled CNG from the Baikampady Gail pump, reportedly began leaking as it headed towards Suratkal. The driver immediately halted the vehicle on the side of the national highway and alerted the concerned authorities about the potential danger.

As a precautionary measure, the national highway was temporarily closed and safety protocols were implemented.

Although CNG falls under natural gas and is not as hazardous as cooking fuel, experts note that in the event of a major fire accident, there remains a possibility of cylinder explosion. Considering this, the necessary safety measures were promptly undertaken.
