Kaup: Counsellor arrested for allegedly sexually harassing woman at centre

Kaup, Nov 16: Kaup police arrested a counsellor on November 15 evening on charges of sexually harassing a woman who had visited a counselling centre for help with marital issues.

The arrested accused has been identified as Niranjan Shekhar Shetty (52), a resident of Mallaru village.

According to the complaint, the woman had approached Sunanda Wellness Centre located at Kankanguttu Compound in Moodluru village, Kaup taluk, seeking counselling for her marital problems. During the session, the accused allegedly made physical contact and sexually harassed her.

Following the incident, the survivor filed a written complaint at the Kaup police station, based on which a case was registered. Under the guidance of Karkala assistant superintendent of police Dr Harsha Priyamvada and Kaup circle inspector Azmath Ali, Kaup police station sub-inspector Shubhakar and his team arrested the accused and produced him before the court.
