Muscat, Nov 16: In a landmark move for global aviation, Oman Airports has become the first airport operator in the world to deploy Wi-Fi 7 connectivity across all its airports, offering passengers faster, safer and more reliable internet services. The advanced system has been rolled out in partnership with Huawei, marking a major step towards smart airport operations under Oman Vision 2040.
The upgraded Wi-Fi 7 network promises significantly higher speeds for streaming and downloads, stronger security protocols to safeguard personal and operational data, and seamless connectivity even during peak travel hours. Oman Airports said the achievement highlights its continued push to integrate cutting-edge digital systems into daily operations.

The introduction of Wi-Fi 7 forms a key part of the company’s strategy to modernise services and enhance the overall passenger journey. The new infrastructure is expected to improve operational efficiency, support faster digital processes from check-in to boarding, and prepare the airports for future technological demands and rising passenger numbers.
The initiative also aligns with Oman’s Vision 2040, which emphasises the development of smart public infrastructure and world-class aviation facilities. By taking the lead in next-generation airport connectivity, Oman Airports strengthens the country’s position as a regional technology-driven aviation hub.
The project’s success has been attributed to strategic collaboration with Huawei, whose expertise in advanced wireless systems enabled the smooth deployment of Wi-Fi 7 across multiple airport facilities.
