Mangaluru: Mount Carmel’s outreach programme on World Day of the Poor

Media Release

Mangaluru, Nov 16: On the occasion of World Day of the Poor, Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru organized a meaningful outreach programme on Saturday, November 15th. The students of grade 2 C and 2 D, along with their mentors, visited the Infant Mary’s Shelter Home at Jeppu.

The programme began with a prayer, seeking God’s blessings on all the inmates and their caretakers. The students then brought joy to the inmates through a heartwarming cultural performance, expressing their affection and respect. They shared essential items such as fruits, eatables, and a cash contribution from the management, which was gratefully received.

The children later visited the respective wards where they interacted with the residents in their resting spaces. The elders welcomed them with smiles and gentle conversations, and blessed the children warmly.

This outreach experience proved to be an eye-opener, deeply touching and spiritually enriching, reminding both students and mentors of the value of compassion, care, and support for the elderly.
