Moodbidri: Bhootanateshwara Rural Sports Meet Begins Amid Fanfare

Moodbidri, Feb 17: The three-day Bhootanateshwara rural sports meet got off to a magnificent start at Mijar near here on Friday February 17.
Bhootanateshwara temple managing trustee Vijaynath Shetty’s mother Prema Shetty inaugurated the three-day rural sports meet.
The event kicked-off with a buffalo race at the sports ground.
Hundreds of excited children participated in a slush treasure hunt contest, drenching themselves in muddy waters, and enjoying it thoroughly. In the end, two children were successful in finding the 'treasure'.
Competitions like rangoli, painting and flower arrangement were held on Friday morning.
A special competition wherein participants were required to run carrying life-size dolls drew mass attention at the venue.
Rural sports meet organizer Vijaynath Shetty and former Indian hockey captain Dhanraj Pillai flagged off the new games.
Harinakshi V Shetty felicitated sculptor Divakar Chiplunkar during the programme.
Sandalwood actors Diganth, Shivadwaj and Pakhi Hegde, Alva's Education Foundation chairman Dr Mohan Alva, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Dix Shipping managing director Devanand Shetty, Jayaram Shetty, Uday Shetty, Joyaraj Moses, Pushparaj Hegde, Arjun, Babu Devadiga, Uday Kumar Shetty, Sadanand Shetty, M Sandesh Shetty, Vasu Poojary and others were present.
