Udupi, Feb 18: “Under the joint aegis of Syndicate Bank, Udupi District Athletics Association, and Manipal University, the ‘Syndicate Bank–Udupi Half Marathon 2012’ will be held on Sunday March 4,” said MLA Raghupati Bhat.

Addressing media persons during a press meet held at Syndicate Bank regional office on Friday February 17, Bhat said that the Half Marathon will begin at 6.30 am from Syndicate Bank headquarters and conclude at the same spot covering a distance of 21 km.

Both men and women in two divisions can take part, and the cash prizes of Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000 will be presented to those who come in first, second, and third.

A 3 km race will be held for students below 14 years and 17 years on Sunday morning.  A 10 km race will be held for both men and women of 20 years, besides a 3 km race for those between 35 years and 59 years.  The winners will be presented with cash awards and citation letters.

“Many athletes from Sri Lanka and across the district are likely to participate than the last year,” added MLA Raghupati Bhat.

Syndicate Bank regional DGM Subramani, AGM Venkatesh Mahale, chief manager Damodar Hebbar, and District Athletics Association president Balakrishna Shetty were present at the press meet.
