Udupi, Nov 28: The Udupi district administration has announced a one-day holiday for schools and anganwadis in select areas on Friday, November 28, in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Sri Krishna Math.

The administration has declared the holiday for anganwadis, primary schools, and high schools under the jurisdictions of Udupi town, Malpe, and Manipal police stations. Officials cited possible traffic disruptions affecting schoolchildren and emphasised prioritising their safety.

As part of the protocol arrangements and heightened security measures expected during the prime minister’s visit—which is likely to be attended by union ministers, the governor of Karnataka, the chief minister, state ministers, and senior officials—the Udupi District police had recommended precautionary steps to ensure smooth conduct of the programmes.

Authorities clarified that academic sessions missed due to the holiday will be compensated on other general holidays.
