Dubai, Feb 19: 'Helping hands are better than praying lips' - with this motto in mind, Melody Makers Music and Fine Arts Center, Dubai presented 'Music with Meaning 2012' at the Dubai Women's College Auditorium on Friday, February 17.

It was a unique concept blending talent and charity by the students of Melody Makers to raise funds for Dubai Autism Center. While showcasing their talents in front of a large audience including some of the well known dignitaries, students as young as 5-year-olds to teenagers left no stone unturned in their effort and enthusiasm to bring out the best in them and enthrall the audience. This concept is part of the social responsibility initiatives the students of Melody Makers have been taking since its inception in 1997.

The four-hour show kick-started at 4 pm with a welcome speech by Ritvik Prabhu, a young student of Effective Communication at Melody Makers. Rohit Jayakaran, RJ of 101.6 FM carried the show filling the auditorium with humour and life. Students demonstrated their talent and learning in music, singing, dance and drama in a way that left everyone spellbound. Music instruments included the grand piano, keyboards, guitars and violins. There were orchestral items like the title track of “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Saber Dance”, “Thank You For the Music” etc. Art work of some the art students were on display, a feast for everyone’s eyes.

The staff of Melody Makers swept everyone off their feet by playing music, singing and dancing much to the awe of the audience – a fine way to display the talents of the teachers. The classical concert showcased some unique masterpieces in guitar, keyboard, violin and piano. Various forms of dances like Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Hindi Folk, Western and Bhangra were presented with perfection using the most modern costumes that matched every form of dance.

The 7 pm to 9 pm concert was opened by Isha and Rishita with a welcome speech that amazed everyone. A very meaningful musical under the title “Live Your Dream” conveyed the message of “Be Positive, Work Hard and Aim High”. The concert finale was a group song by the vocal team of Melody Makers. “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey was sung by young voices with a totally electrifying effect. They kept the audience moving to the beat – a finale that was memorable and worth watching.

The event was sponsored by well-known corporates like Ultimate Insurance Brokers, Prime Energy, D W Travel Co LLC, Hyssna International LLC, Zee TV, Danube Buildmart, Dubai Women’s College, D M TV, TNT Express and Daijiworld.com. The entire net proceeds of the show was handed over to Dubai Autism Center by Tareq Bin Khalifa, the local sponsor of Melody Makers.

All in all, 'Music With Meaning 2012' was a show of talent, confidence, unbelievable hard work coupled with a sense of care and share.
