Mangalore, Feb 19: Bhavit Raj (15) from Kolya near here, committed suicide on Friday February 17 at his home, when no one was present. Reasons for this sudden development have remained a mystery as of now.

Bhavit, son of Vishwanath Poojary and Geetha from Kolya, was a brilliant student. He was studying in ninth standard in Tokkottu Permannur high school. He did not attend class on Friday. It is said that when his father came home for lunch from work, he saw that the boy was sitting silently in a pensive mood.

In the afternoon, his sister and mother were away visiting a temple, when the boy used the veil of his sister’s chudidar, and hanged himself from the roof beam.

The neighbours, who peeped into the house, found Bhavit hanging from the roof. They admitted the teenager into a hospital, where he breathed his last.

A case was registered in Ullal police station in this respect. Investigation has begun.
