Tivim, Dec 3: In a dramatic breakthrough, Colvale Police have arrested a key suspect in the sensational Rs 1.5 crore burglary that shook a prominent family in Tivim. The case, believed to have been orchestrated with insider help, has exposed a troubling betrayal of trust.

The arrested accused, Kabir Pradhan, a close friend of the family’s grandchild, allegedly used his familiarity with the household to carry out the break-in. Police sources said Pradhan, a frequent visitor, knew that a substantial amount of cash was stored in the residence.

During questioning, the accused confessed, revealing that he did not act alone. The hunt is now on for at least one accomplice believed to have aided the theft. Police are examining movement patterns, phone records, and potential escape routes as the investigation expands.

While the police have withheld details of the stolen items and the exact modus operandi due to the ongoing probe, they confirmed that Rs 7 lakh has been recovered so far. Efforts are on to trace the remaining amount.

“More arrests are likely,” said a senior police official, adding that teams are working to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the robbery.
