Mangaluru, Dec 7: The Dennis D'Cunha and Mary D'Cunha Memorial Kavita Trust Best Poetry Book Prize for 2025 has been announced. Felcy Lobo, Derebail, has been chosen for the prize of Rs 25,000 and a memento for her poetry collection Palva Pont.

The prize will be presented on January 11 during the day-long 20th edition of Kavita Fest to be held at the Peace Park of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University).

“Felcy Lobo's poems stand fearlessly against injustice and inequality. Her poems do not only express pain, they are filled with moral sentiments.

“The book contains powerful poems to express feminism. Her poems do not only express the pain of women, but also reflect the struggle between women and nature,” said the selection committee comprising poet Andrew L Cunha, author Kishoo Barkur and William Pais.

Kavita Trust had invited entries for books published in 2025. A total of nine books in different scripts were received.

The prize will be presented by Jnanpith awardee Konkani writer Damodar Mauzo at the closing ceremony of Kavita Fest in January. Francis D'Cunha, son of Dennis D'Cunha and Mary D'Cunha, will be the guest of honour.
