Andhra Pradesh, Dec 12: A tragic road accident claimed nine lives and left several others injured after a passenger bus lost control and plunged into a deep ravine in the hilly terrain of Alluri Sitharama Raju district early on Thursday morning.
The accident occurred around 5:30 am near Tulasipakalu village, when the bus, carrying 35 passengers, two drivers, and a cleaner, reportedly veered off the narrow ghat road while negotiating a sharp curve amid dense forest surroundings.

District Collector confirmed that nine people died on the spot, while seven critically injured passengers were immediately shifted to CHC Chintur, located about 15 km from the accident site. Ongoing rescue operations are being carried out by local police, fire and emergency services, and volunteers from nearby villages.
“After stabilisation, the injured will be moved to Bhadrachalam for further treatment,” the collector said.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep shock over the tragic mishap. He personally reviewed the situation with district authorities and directed senior officials to rush to the spot, supervise rescue operations, and ensure high-quality medical care for the injured.
Naidu further instructed all concerned departments to work in close coordination, expedite recovery efforts, and provide immediate relief to the victims and their families.
