Kundapur, Feb 20: In a tragic accident, Dr Hemalata Shetty died on the spot when the bike she was riding pillion on was hit by a truck.
The accident occured on national highway 66 near N R Acharya Hospital, Koteshwar here at around 2 pm on Monday February 20.
She was riding pillion with her husband Dayanand Shetty, who sustaing injuries. Three or four people who were in the truck were also injured.
40-year-old Hemalata Shetty was a practicing doctor in Ardi. The accident occured when the couple were riding towards N R Acharya Hospital to buy tablets from the medical store there. As they were taking a turn in the hospital's direction, a truck came in the way and its driver suddenly applied breaks. The truck rolled over and fell on Dr Hemalata, killing her on the spot.
Kundapur police have registered a case.
