Jammu authorities demolish eight illegal drug structures in anti-encroachment drive

Jammu, Dec 13: In a crackdown against drug peddlers and illegal encroachments, Jammu authorities demolished eight unauthorised structures on Saturday in the city’s Narwal Bala area, Tehsil Bahu, officials said.

The action forms part of the District Administration Jammu’s intensified drive against land grabbers and narcotics traffickers. Officials noted that despite ample notice, the owners of the structures continued their involvement in the illegal sale and purchase of narcotic substances under multiple NDPS Act cases.

“The District Administration once again cautions that no illegal structures or encroachments will be tolerated. Strict legal action will be taken against those involved in NDPS-related offences and other violations,” an official said.

The demolition drive was conducted under the supervision of SDM Jammu South Manu Hansa and SP City South Ajay Sharma, with Tehsildar Bahu Raju Samyal, SDPO Jammu East Sachit Sharma, SHO Bahu Fort Susheel Choudhary, and teams from the Revenue and Police departments present.

Authorities highlighted that police and security forces have been conducting aggressive operations against drug smugglers, peddlers, hawala networks, and other illegal financial activities, which are believed to fund terrorism in the region. While the Jammu police and security agencies tackle terror networks, Over Ground Workers (OGWs), and drug operations inland, the Army and BSF focus on preventing cross-border infiltration, drug smuggling, and drone activities.
