Udupi, Dec 15: The youth of Udupi deanery came together at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Perampalli, at 5 pm to celebrate Christmas and to elect the Deanery Council for 2026 on Saturday, December 13.
The event was inaugurated by Fr Vishal Lobo, parish priest of Perampalli Church; Godwin Mascarenhas, Youth Formation Coordinator of KRYC; Fr Rajesh Pasanna, director of ICYM Udupi Deanery; along with current ICYM office bearers from Udupi deanery and Perampalli unit.









Fr Vishal shared a heartfelt Christmas message emphasising the importance of helping those in need during the festive season. Godwin highlighted the significance of youth staying connected and active within the community.
The election process for the 2026 Deanery Council was led by Fr Rajesh, with 26 eligible voters participating. The new council was formed through voting and nominations, with Clarilda D’Souza elected as president. The elections followed the oath-taking ceremony and the official handover of responsibilities to the newly elected members. Fr Rajesh also presented certificates of appreciation to the outgoing Council of 2025, led by Rouvin Pereira, in recognition of their service.
The evening was lively with carol singing by deanery members, Christmas cake cutting, and action songs led by the ICYM Deanery Council.
A highlight of the evening was a video presentation showcasing the programmes and initiatives undertaken by the ICYM Udupi Deanery Council in 2025. The atmosphere was filled with joy, warm memories, and a renewed sense of unity among all members.
The dean of Udupi deanery, Fr Charles Menezes, honored the occasion with his presence and shared an inspiring message for the youth.
Kuswar sweets, brought by different units, were distributed to all attendees. The celebration reached its peak with the grand entry of Santa Claus, spreading happiness and cheer. The evening concluded with a communal meal, fostering fellowship among all present.
