Nitin Nabin takes charge as BJP working president

New Delhi, Dec 16: A day after being appointed as the BJP’s new working national president, Nitin Nabin formally assumed charge at the party headquarters here on Monday in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and outgoing national president JP Nadda.

Thousands of party workers and office-bearers accorded a warm welcome to the 45-year-old leader, who arrived at the headquarters after a brief delay, reportedly due to his flight arriving late. He was received at the Delhi airport by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and other senior BJP leaders. Party sources indicated that Nabin is likely to eventually succeed JP Nadda as the party’s national president, signalling a generational shift within the ruling party.

Senior leaders described Nabin as a dynamic organiser with strong ideological roots and a deep commitment to the party. They said he interacted with leaders and workers, assuring them that he would work under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Nabin also has a background in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Speaking earlier in Patna before leaving for Delhi, Nabin said he had always followed the ideals of his father, former BJP MLA Nabin Kishor Prasad Sinha. “My father considered the party as his mother and placed the nation above everything else. I have always worked with those values,” he said.

Meanwhile, Nabin’s sudden elevation has sparked political speculation, with many linking the move to the West Bengal Assembly elections scheduled for 2026. Belonging to the Kayastha community, his appointment is expected to help the BJP strengthen its outreach among Kayastha voters and related sub-castes in the state, a senior party leader said.

Irrespective of any party affiliaiton, now look how a worlds largest political party prepares its transition, a guy who is just 45 year old, will now get transition from JP Nadda just the way Nadda got the mantle from his predecessor A Shah. Does congress ever wants to look in to mirror and reflect on how it conducted to elect its president recently. ? A so called young leader was surruptiously selected as its president because of his last name but failed to impress india. lost several elections and just resigned and installed a scape goat called kharge. now all powers in family and all blame to this scape goat!

BJP , Since the 1980s, it has had more than fifteen party presidents, showing regular leadership change and internal debate. Different leaders came from different backgrounds, regions, and ideas. This proves the party is not controlled by one family or one person, but grows through elections, performance, and public support within the party system. On the other hand, Congress talks about democracy but does not practice it well. For decades, it has mostly had just two presidents, Sonia Gandhi for around forty years and now Kharge. Power stayed with one family for too long. So when Congress lectures India about democratic backsliding, it sounds ironic and dishonest to many voters today. This is the problem.
