Mangalore, Feb 21: Tense situation prevailed during the annual general body meeting of Akhila Bharata Billawara Union held at Shri Narayan Guru Sabhabavana at Kudroli here on Tuesday February 21, over an issue regarding election procedures.

A group of the Billawa community gathered at the meeting venue to oppose the by-law procedures followed in appointments for the various posts and membership. They alleged that Naveenchandra Suvarna has been continuing in the post of president of the union from past 16 years without taking into consideration the rules and regulation.

As per routine, the AGM is held every year at the venue a day after Maha Shivarathri.

After heated exchange of words, the irate people pelted stones inside the hall where the meeting was taking place, damaging a window.

Taking note of the situation, Barke police arrived at the spot and the meeting was temporarily cancelled. Sources told Daijiworld that the meeting will resume in the afternoon.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Naveenchandra Suvarna brushed aside the incident and said that it was a trivial issue. "It was only a difference of opinion, nothing major. Only members were allowed inside the meeting hall," he said.

Its high time that this family understands that this organisation is meant for all the billawa's and not for thier family members a proper investifgation should be done to know the truth.

Akhila Bharatha Billavara Union Office Bearers
    President: Naveen D Suvarna(Husband)
Womens Wing President: Sumalatha Naveen Suvarna(Wife) Since 16 years
Is this husband & wife Sangha.
If we go through this organization structure we will find his father in law, sister in law, brothers etc etc. what the hell is going on.

I dont known how many of you guys known one fact: Narayan guru College was built by the funds collected by all the Billavas. After Naveen D Suvarna's Father Damodar Suvarna became the President of Akhila Bharatha Billavara Union he made a separate trust in which he included his family members and brought college under this trust. Now Narayan Guru College Comes under Naveen D'Suvarna.
Now in the name of Billava he is taking all the facilities from govt like land and money to build a hostel and I can bet you guys even this hostel will become his family property.

Every citizen in every Union have right to express their feelings but not violently. This was the community meeting and it is very bad to fight each other instead of helping or sorting out the matter within the community. And now everybody came to know that their is no unity in this community too

Billava community includes Billava, Poojary, Bangera, Suvarna, Kotian, Karkera, Salian, Amin, anchan etc..

In Kundapur Taluk 90% surname will be either Poojary or Billawa. In Udupi and Mangalore you will find rest of the surnames along with Poojary and Billawa.

Kunder, Chandan, Kharvi and Mogaveera belong to a separate Mogaveeras community.

There are some good commets about Mr.Naveenchandra.To be honest,my knowledge about him is zero.It is not easy to stay in the power for long 16 years. It needs lot of patience and courage.Even Tendulkar is serving Indian cricket for more than 20 years! He has changed the image of Indian cricket. One has to salute peopole who serve for such a long period in their respective fields.
But change is necessary in every field. Please give chance to youngsters and guide them with your knowledge.Good luck.

Akhila Bharatha Billawara Union is one of the best and powerful union among the other unions. President of the said unit is a be-hearted person and he will always help for the uplift of the poor family. He will not think about cast and creed. Whoever come and ask any help he will help them one way or other. But todays goondaism made him very shameful. We alway help and support such a person who will help us. So in future don't do such a unfilthy/meaningless attitude for a grownup union.

    Dear Protesting Billawas,

Protest against wrong doings. That your right. But please do not pelt stones at institutions, buildings, people. This is not the way to protest.

There are many peaceful ways to protest.

    1) Boycot meetings chaired by the said president.
    2) Getup and go out of the hall when the said president starts his speach.
    3) Do not I repeat do not recognise the said president as the leader of the organization
    4) Take procession in a peaceful manner in front of the president house (Take prior permission from the authorities)
    5) Take legal help
