Hyderabad, Dec 19: The ‘City of Pearls’ is set to gain a new identity as a hub of luxury lifestyle brands, with the Telangana government unveiling an ambitious strategy under the Telangana Rising 2047 Vision Document.

As per the document, the state plans to position Hyderabad as India’s foremost destination for global fashion and luxury by organising an annual Hyderabad Fashion Month, promoting brands at the global level, and fostering collaborations with leading international fashion, footwear and jewellery houses.

The vision includes building “Global Fashion Corridors” with countries such as Italy, France, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, the UK and the US to drive international partnerships and improve global market access for local brands.

To support this push, the state will roll out a global labels and brand acceleration programme aimed at helping local fashion, textile, accessory and lifestyle brands expand into international markets. This will be achieved through design incubation, retail integration, export readiness and global brand placement.

The document also outlines plans to develop a future-ready workforce through advanced training in textile 4.0, footwear, digital fashion, jewellery design and advanced material innovation. A global textile and design fellowship will provide artisans and youth with exposure to premier institutions in Milan, Paris, New York, Seoul and Tokyo.

In a unique initiative, Hyderabad will also be promoted as India’s first ‘Sleep City’, with plans to establish a dedicated cluster near the city for manufacturing sleep and wellness products. This integrated hub will focus on smart fabrics, bedding, comfort technology and research and development, catering to the fast-growing global wellness and lifestyle markets.

Additionally, the state will set up a Handloom and Handicraft Museum to showcase Telangana’s rich artistic heritage and enhance its global cultural visibility.

The Vision Document further emphasises modernisation of artisan and heritage sectors by digitally connecting traditional handloom and handicraft clusters with global design houses. Tools and techniques will be upgraded across key clusters such as Gadwal, Pochampally, Narayanpet, Nirmal, Cheriyal and other prominent centres in the state.

Through these initiatives, Telangana aims to blend tradition with innovation while positioning Hyderabad as a global destination for luxury, fashion and wellness.
