Lok Sabha Bypoll - 649 Polling Booths in Udupi, 861 in Chikmagalur

Udupi, Feb 21: The by-elections for Udupi-Chikmagalur parliamentary constituency will be held on March 18, and Udupi district legislative assembly constituency will have 649 polling booths with a total of 6,26,876 (2,93,694 male and 3,33,182 female) voters.

This was informed by deputy commissioner Dr Reju at a press meet here on Tuesday February 21.

Chikmagalur district legislative constituency will have 861 polling booths with a total of 6,18,390 voters (3,13,953 male and 3.05,337 female).

The entire Udupi–Chikmagalur parliamentary constituency will have a total of 1,510 polling booths with voters 12,45,266 voters (6,06,747 male and 6,38,519 female).

The last date for filing nominations will be Wednesday February 29. The scrutiny of nominations will be held on Thursday March 1. The last date for withdrawal of candidatures will be Saturday March 3. The polls will be held on Sunday March 18. The counting of votes will be held on Wednesday March 21. The date before which the election shall be completed is Sunday March 25. The polling hours will be 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.

DC Dr Reju will be the election officer for Udupi–Chikmagalur parliamentary constituency. Chikmagalur DC Rangaswamy will be the additional election officer for Udupi–Chikmagalur parliamentary constituency. Udupi district Kundapur division assistant commissioner will be the assistant commissioner for Kundapur legislative assembly constituency.

Udupi agriculture department joint director will be the assistant election officer for Udupi legislative assembly constituency. Udupi district integral tribal development project officer will be the assistant election officer for Kaup legislative assembly constituency. Udupi ZP deputy secretary will be the assistant election officer for Karkala legislative assembly constituency. Chikmagalur district food and civil supplies deputy director will be the assistant election officer for Sringeri legislative assembly constituency.

Chikmagalur division assistant commissioner will be the assistant election officer for Mudigere legislative assembly constituency. Chikmagalur ZP deputy secretary will be the assistant election officer for Chikmagalur legislative assembly constituency and Chikmagalur district Tarikere sub division assistant commissioner will be the assistant election officer for Tarikere legislative assembly constituency.

Electronic voting machines (EVM) will be used in this by elections. The electoral photo identity card (EPIC) is essential for the voters to cast their franchisee. The references which Indian Election Commission announces shortly will be applicable to this by election, in order to enable the voters whose names were listed in the voters’ list. The model code of conduct will come into effect from Wednesday February 22.
