Mangaluru, Dec 22: Olavina Halli witnessed a joyful and vibrant Christmas celebration on December 21, held on the grounds of Olavina Halli. The programme was marked by a spirit of love, sharing, and togetherness, drawing residents, guests, and well-wishers from the surrounding areas.
Ivan D Souza, MLC, the chief guest, praised the Sisters of Charity for their dedicated service over the past 50 years among the destitute and intellectually disabled. He acknowledged their selfless commitment and assured continued support from the Government as well as help from generous donors to strengthen their mission.




















Fr Victor D’Mello, parish priest of Paneer Church, highlighted the true meaning of Christmas, stating that God chooses to dwell among people and rejoices in living with them. He added that just as Jesus loved and lived among the people, the Sisters at Olavina Halli continue to follow His way of love and service.
Farooq, vice president of Kinya panchayat, expressed his appreciation for the valuable services rendered by the Sisters in his area. He shared his happiness in seeing the residents cheerful and content, and emphasized that Christ came to spread love for the poor and the message of forgiveness.
The gathering was warmly welcomed by Sr Aileen Mathias, administrator and superior of Olavina Halli. The programme was gracefully compered by Maria Treaza Monteiro.
The cultural programme was a true feast for the eyes. Residents, in collaboration with people from St Antony and St Paul wards, presented a meaningful enactment of the Birth of Jesus through dance and song. Comedy performances brought laughter and relaxation, while the dances by children captured everyone’s attention. The presence of Santa Claus added charm and joy, becoming a highlight throughout the celebration. Fr Cyril Pinto, the Chaplain appreciated the people and residents for their co-operation and giving best of their talents, energy with joy.
The event concluded on a happy note, eating Kuswar, spreading the true spirit of Christmas—love, joy, and hope—among all present.
