Udupi, Dec 24: Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo of Udupi diocese extended his warm Christmas greetings to the people and called upon everyone to celebrate the festival in its true spirit by embracing love, light and harmony.

In his Christmas message, Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo described Christmas as a heartbeat of God’s love, an outpouring of love for humanity. He said, “The festival signifies God’s incomparable love, through which He offered His own Son to the world. Christmas reveals the unique way of God’s incomparable love. When we experience that divine love, an ocean of compassion and affection and become its reflection, when our hearts are ready to give Christ to others in love, then the true celebration of Christmas takes place.”

Quoting the renowned poet G S Shivarudrappa, the bishop highlighted the importance of light in human life, stating that Christmas marks the arrival of light amid darkness. He recalled that when darkness enveloped the world, the light of Christ was born on Christmas night, inviting people to walk in the light and become members of the Kingdom of Light.

Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo, said, “Lord Jesus, the Light of the World, dispelled the darkness of the earth. Christmas is a festival that embraces human life as light and showers it with love. Christmas is the festival of light in our lives. May Jesus, the Light of the World born at Christmas, be born in our hearts. Enlightened by His radiance, May we cast away selfishness and hatred, and live in unity and mutual love. May a life of brotherhood and harmony be ours.”

Concluding his message, the bishop wished everyone a blessed Christmas and a peaceful New Year, wishing that the festival would inspire people to lead lives rooted in love, peace and compassion.
