Mangaluru, Dec 25: The campus of Mount Carmel Central School, came alive with joy, reverence, and festive warmth as the school celebrated Christmas with great enthusiasm and spiritual fervour in the auditorium. Gracefully hosted by the students of grade 6 C and 6 E, the programme beautifully captured the true spirit of Christmas of love, hope, compassion, and togetherness.

The celebration opened on a melodious note with an instrumental performance by the students, creating a serene and uplifting ambience. Extending warm Christmas greetings, the masters of ceremony welcomed the gathering and reflected on the birth of Jesus Christ, the light of the world, whose message of peace and goodwill continues to inspire humanity.

The programme commenced with a solemn prayer service invoking God’s blessings. Adding colour and vibrancy, an energetic welcome dance set a joyful tone for the celebration. Anirudh and Ishaan formally welcomed the chief guest and the gathering, following which the chief guest, N V Paulose, director of Global TV, renowned writer, documentary and film director and action journalist, was honoured with a flower sapling by vice principal Sr Teena.

A meaningful highlight of the programme was the presentation of the significance of Christmas. Through powerful symbols such as the humble crib, the guiding star, the three kings, and the tradition of gift-giving, the students conveyed messages of humility, faith, gratitude, generosity, and unconditional love, reminding all, that Christmas is not merely a festival, but a way of life rooted in compassion and hope.

The festive spirit soared with a series of vibrant dance performances celebrating Christmas and the New Year, radiating joy, unity, and youthful energy. This was followed by a soulful choir performance of carols that filled the auditorium with melodious harmonies and truly captured the essence of the season. The programme also included a prize distribution ceremony, recognising the winners of various Christmas competitions held during the week.

In his inspiring address, the chief guest lauded the flawless execution of the programme and applauded the confidence, discipline, and talent of the students. He encouraged them to dream big and work with determination, sharing the memorable mnemonic ‘HAT’ - H for Happiness, A for Appreciation, and T for Target, as key values for success in life.

Addressing the gathering, principal Sr Melissa congratulated the students of grade 6 C and E and their mentors for their exemplary coordination and meaningful presentation. She reminded everyone that Christmas is a festival of joy, love, caring, and sharing, urging all to reach out to the underprivileged, as true joy lies in giving.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Snehal, expressing gratitude to the management, dignitaries, teachers, non-teaching staff and fellow-students for their wholehearted support. As a token of appreciation, Sr Melissa presented a memento to the chief guest. The emcees Vinel D’Souza, Shrihaan Pai, Rishona D’Souza, Piyush Chidanand, Ancia Karen Andrade and Neva Ruth D’Sa ensured the seamless flow of the programme.

The celebration drew to a joyful close with warm wishes for a Blessed Christmas and a grace-filled New Year 2026, leaving behind a lasting message of peace, love, unity, and goodwill. The festive cheer continued in the classrooms, where students shared the joy of Christmas by exchanging traditional Christmas kuswar and cake, spreading happiness and camaraderie.

Extending the spirit of Christmas, the school management organised a warm get-together for the staff and PTEC members, strengthening bonds and fostering a spirit of love and sharing, truly reflecting the essence of the season.
