New Delhi, Dec 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that new policies are being framed with a strong focus on youth empowerment, placing young people at the centre of India’s nation-building efforts.
Addressing the Veer Baal Diwas programme at Bharat Mandapam here, the Prime Minister said the present generation represents Gen Z and Gen Alpha, and it is they who will lead the country towards the goal of becoming a developed nation. According to an official release, he said he clearly sees and understands the competence and confidence of today’s youth and therefore places immense trust in them.

Quoting an old adage, PM Modi remarked that even if a child speaks wisely, it should be accepted, stressing that greatness is not defined by age but by deeds and achievements. He noted that many young people have already accomplished inspiring tasks, but added that these achievements should be seen only as a beginning, as there is much more to be achieved and many dreams yet to take flight.
The Prime Minister said this generation is fortunate as the nation firmly stands with their talent, unlike earlier times when an atmosphere of despair discouraged the youth from even dreaming. He observed that today India actively seeks out talent, provides platforms, and aligns the strength of 140 crore citizens with the aspirations of its young population.
Highlighting initiatives such as Digital India, PM Modi said the youth now have access to the power of the internet and abundant learning resources. He pointed to programmes like Startup India for those interested in science, technology and entrepreneurship, and Khelo India for aspiring sportspersons. Referring to his participation in the Sansad Khel Mahotsav recently, he said several platforms are available to support youth progress.
Urging the youth to remain focused, the Prime Minister cautioned them against being distracted by short-term popularity, emphasising the importance of clarity of thought and strong principles. He called upon them to draw inspiration from great personalities and ideals of the nation and to ensure that their success contributes to the success of the country.
He further said that initiatives such as Mera Yuva Bharat aim to connect young people, provide opportunities and develop leadership skills. Whether in advancing the space economy, promoting sports, expanding fintech and manufacturing, or creating opportunities for skill development and internships, PM Modi said the youth remain at the core of every initiative, with new opportunities opening up across sectors.
Recalling that on the occasion of the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji in January 2022 he had announced the observance of December 26 as ‘Veer Baal Diwas’, the Prime Minister said the day commemorates the martyrdom of Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji, whose unparalleled sacrifice continues to inspire generations.
