Mangalore, Feb 23: Sagar (19), a final year BBM degree student of a college here, committed suicide by hanging himself on Wednesday February 22. He was a native of Honnali taluk.

Sagar’s mother, Hemavati, works for Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd, and his sister studies in an engineering college. His father, B Murthy, had died a few years back.

Sagar was to appear for internal examination on Wednesday. As he remained absent from the examination, his friends went to his house in Karnataka Housing Board Colony at Bondel in the city. They found that their friend had ended his life.

In a suicide note left behind, the student said he was solely responsible for his death. It is widely believed that the student decided to end his life as he was entangled in problems relating to his involvement with betting.
