Telangana, Jan 2: The story of determination and passion behind cracking the UPSC Civil Services Examination comes alive in the journey of IAS officer Shobhika Pathak, who secured All India Rank 37 in UPSC 2024 while continuing her duties as an income tax officer.
If one wishes to understand what true dedication towards UPSC looks like, Shobhika Pathak’s journey stands as a powerful example. While serving as an Income Tax Officer, she pursued her dream with unwavering focus and successfully cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024 with an impressive AIR 37, eventually becoming an IAS officer.

It is often said that when passion burns strong in the heart, no duty, fatigue, or difficulty can become a barrier. Shobhika proved this by balancing the demanding responsibilities of an Income Tax Officer while keeping her dream of becoming an IAS officer alive. Her journey has seen several ups and downs, but her resolve never weakened.
Shobhika’s story is not that of an ordinary individual, but of a journey defined by courage, hard work, and self-belief. She completed her schooling at Army Public School, Bengaluru. In 2013, she secured admission to NIT Warangal, where she completed her BTech in electrical and electronics engineering. Though she possessed a strong technical background, her heart was firmly set on public service.
In 2020, Shobhika cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination for the first time, securing All India Rank 248. She was allotted the IRS (Indian Revenue Service) cadre and joined the income tax department. However, for her, this was not the final destination. “My dream was always to become an IAS officer,” she said, and continued her preparation alongside her professional responsibilities.
While working as an income tax officer, Shobhika managed to carve out time for her studies. Reading books before heading to office in the morning and revising notes after returning home at night became her daily routine. She never allowed exhaustion to become an excuse. There were many sleepless nights, but her determination never faltered.
It was this relentless dedication that ultimately paid off in 2024, when Shobhika Pathak secured All India Rank 37 in the UPSC examination, turning her long-cherished dream into reality and inspiring countless aspirants across the country.
