Udupi, Feb 23: The solo painting exhibition by Bangalore-based artiste, C V Shruti, was inaugurated at Vibhuti Art Gallery of Chitrakala Mandira School of Art on Thursday February 23 morning.

The exhibition, being held in association with Karnataka Lalithakakala Academy, was inaugurated by former member of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, Ratnavati J Baikadi.

Speaking on the occasion, she said art happens to be a holy boon handed down by the Lord, and that it is not possible to each and every person to master art forms at their whims and fancies. “Our country has got international recognition because of our rich art forms. At the same time, it is regrettable that parents do not encourage their wards to pursue their interest in art, fearing that they will perform below par in academic activities,” she said.

P N Acharya, former member of Karnataka Lalithakala Academy, who was the chief guest of the inaugural, said that the state has far fewer women artistes as compared to men, and hence, they can avail of facilities of the government relatively easily.

Veteran artist, K L Bhat, presided. Raghavendra Amin and Rajendra Trasi were present.
