New Delhi, Jan 2: Hindu spiritual leader Jagadguru Rambhadracharya on Thursday criticised Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan over the Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) decision to sign a Bangladeshi cricketer for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
Reacting sharply to KKR’s move to rope in Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman for IPL 2026, Rambhadracharya termed the decision “very unfortunate” and alleged that Shah Rukh Khan, who is a co-owner of the franchise, has “always had the mindset of a traitor”.

The spiritual leader linked his criticism to the recent incidents of violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, strongly condemning the alleged attacks. He said the Indian government should not remain silent and must take a firm and aggressive stand to protect the interests and safety of Hindus living in the neighbouring country.
Rambhadracharya further remarked that the people and government of Bangladesh should be reminded of history, asserting that Hindus had played a significant role in the formation of Bangladesh. He said the country’s emergence was supported by Hindus and that this contribution should not be forgotten.
The remarks have triggered reactions in political and social circles, coming at a time when issues related to regional politics, sports and cross-border relations continue to generate intense debate.
